Scottish Rally

Big thanks from Stewart to everyone who helped marshal the Solway stages Windyhill 1&2 on the Scottish. Everything went well with little or no problems, thanks again.

Letter of thanks from Scottish Rally:

Dear Stewart,

Thank you so much for being a fantastic Stage Commander on SS 5 & 9 Windy Hill on the 72nd running of the RSAC Scottish Rally.

I really appreciate you stepping in late on in the organising and rounding up all the willing volunteers from Solway Car club - please do pass on my huge thanks. As Stage Commander I realise a great responsibility lies with you and no matter how much planning we as organisers do in advance, not everything will go to plan or work the way we anticipated - thank you for being there to sort it out.

Jonathan Lord, our Clerk of Course made a couple of comments in his thanks which I would like to share with you, “We are privileged to have some of the best Stage Commanders in the country… ... In a debrief with our MSA Steward Phil Short and Safety Delegate Neil Fuller, I was asked to convey their thanks to the whole team for what Neil described as a brilliant rally…. …I can’t contact everyone individually, so I should be grateful if you would pass on my thanks to every one of your team members who worked so hard, often in such miserable conditions. We did think when we moved to May that this was often one of the best months for weather in Scotland, but sadly it wasn’t to be. We couldn’t begin to run the event without the support of many hundreds of volunteers, and we really appreciate everything you do.

I am proud to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team who are second to none. Very many thanks to each and every one of you, and here’s to number 73 next year!”

The teamwork in motorsport always inspires me (and here I don’t mean the competitive teams; although that at times does to). I too am very proud of the efforts of everyone involved, how friends and strangers from widely different backgrounds and experiences, work together, totally voluntarily, turning beautiful country side into the best rallying environment and doing their utmost to ensure everyone goes home safe.

My sincere Thanks,
