Points Scoring

Points System adopted following a proposal made at the AGM in January (2020):

Grass Autotests

Autotest Championship (Grass)
Class-based championship; points will be awarded on the basis of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the first ten in each Class. Classes will not be amalgamated, and there must be at least two in a class before an award will be awarded at the end of the season. Dropped scores will apply as per A, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Autotest Championship (Grass) Bonus Points
Extra bonus points based on the overall classification on the event; bonus points will be awarded on the basis of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the first ten Overall, regardless of the class entered. These Bonus Points will only count towards the Grass Autotest Championships. Dropped scores will apply as per A, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Autotest Championship (Grass) – Points carried forward to the Overall Championship
Points awarded based on overall classification on the event; points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall, and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Tarmac Autotests

Autotest Championship (Tar)
Class-based championship; points will be awarded on the basis of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the first ten in each Class. 12 Car Rallies

12 Car Rally Championship

12 Car Rally Championship – Points carried forward to the Overall Championship
Points awarded based on overall classification on the event; points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-12-11. The order of classification of 12 Car Rally results for points in the Overall Championship is: all Experts in order of classification, followed by all Semi-Experts in order of classification, then finally all Novices in order of classification. Dropped scores will apply as per C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Club Championships

Overall Championship
Contested over all events (Grass Autotests, Tar Autotest and 12 Car Rallies). Dropped scores will apply as per A, B & C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Novice Championship
Contested over all events (Grass Autotests, Tar Autotest and 12 Car Rallies). Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall, and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, B & C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Novice Autotest Championship
Contested over all Grass and Tar Autotests. Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall, and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A and B, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Ladies Championship
Contested over all events (Grass Autotests, Tar Autotest and 12 Car Rallies). Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, B & C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Junior Championship for Boys and Girls
Open to club members 14-16 years old inclusive (age at January 1st of competition year). Contested over Grass Autotests only. Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Senior Championship
Open to club members over 55 years old inclusive (age at January 1st of competition year). Contested over all events (Grass Autotests, Tar Autotest and 12 Car Rallies). Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, B & C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Chrysler Trophy
Open to club members using a Chrysler (Peugeot Talbot) in club events. Contested over all events (Grass Autotests, Tar Autotest and 12 Car Rallies). Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall and also for all other finishers. Dropped scores will apply as per A, B & C, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Team Trophy
Contested over all Grass and Tar Autotests. Points will be awarded on the basis of 25-22-20-19-18 (for 1st to 5th Overall) and so on down to 1 point for 22nd Overall and also for all other finishers. Teams will consist of three members (from a nominated maximum of four) and points will be awarded based on the lowest combined total time. Dropped scores will apply as per A & B, and Tiebreaks as per D.

Dropped Scores and Tiebreaks

The following scores will be dropped in each individual category, and Overall Championships:

A. Grass Autotests – Two scores (plus any associated bonus points) to be dropped (i.e. if 9 events are run, 7 scores to count), dropped to a minimum of 5 scores to count (i.e. if 6 events are run, 5 scores to count, & if 5 or less events run, all scores will count).

B. Tar Autotests – Two scores (plus any associated bonus points) to be dropped (i.e. if 6 events are run, 4 scores to count) dropped to a minimum of 3 scores to count (i.e. if 4 events are run, 3 scores to count, & if 3 or less events run, all scores will count).

C. 12 Car Rallies – Two scores (plus any associated bonus points) to be dropped (i.e. if 6 events are run, 4 scores to count) dropped to a minimum of 3 scores to count (i.e. if 4 events are run, 3 scores to count, & if 3 or less events run, all scores will count).

D. Tie Breaks – In the event of a tie in any Championship, and to try to avoid shared awards, the points scored will be considered as follows: Highest scores take precedence (i.e. someone scoring 10-10-9-8 would win over someone scoring 10-9-9-9, despite their total being the same.) If this fails to solve the tiebreak, awards will be shared.
