Well! They might’ve been lying… 😊

Seven competitors took to the start of the final 12 Car Rally of the spring season, for a challenging event which would uniquely use both our normal map 84, and the unfamiliar 78. Thanks to organisers Michael and Isobel Riddick and Uncle Bob, who certainly had a few tricks up their sleeves.

Another event with some challenging clues, and I think we’d all underestimated just how hard it was going to be moving into the ‘unknown territory’ of Map 78! However it was another Expert win for Scott Peacock & Keith Riddick  on just 11 penalties, followed by Mark McCulloch & Kirsty Riddick (64 penalties) and Richard Dickson & Roger Alcorn on (175 penalties).

In the Semi-Experts, the winners were Nancy Dickson & Greg Alcorn on 149 penalties, with Rebekah Russell & Mairi Riddick on 224 penalties. Rab Henderson & Peter Game made their first outing of the year to finish on 104 penalties in Novice, and new pairing Thomas McCarney & Katie Davidson got round on 170 penalties. Well done all for sticking in!

Thank you to Michael & Isobel Riddick and Bob Green for organising, and a big thanks to all the Marshals for coming out last night, some regulars and also some old friends of the car club which was great to see. Thank you to our Chairman Mark McCulloch for hosting the start and finish at Signright Graphix, and also to John and Irene McCulloch for preparing the food and drinks for the finish.

The next events will be in November 2024. If anyone would like some training before then, please get in touch with the Competition Secretary and we’d be happy to arrange.

Now it’s time to put the maps away in the cupboard until the nights start to close in again, and bring out the Autotest machines! Our first Autotest of the year will be on Tar at Oakbank, Dumfries on Sunday 24th March.
