MEMBERS IN ACTION
WRC Rally Sweden (9th – 12th February): a perfect weekend in Sweden for Elliot Edmondson and river Oliver Solberg. They lead the Rally2 class from SS3 on Friday and were not caught in their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, finishing 42.3seconds ahead of their nearest rival, and a fantastic 8th Overall.
Riponian Stages (12th February): Getting some miles in before the Scottish Championship kicks off, Drew Sturrock and driver Hugh Brunton took their Skoda Fabia Rally2 down to Yorkshire for the event. They had a very good day with lots of consisten times to finish 2nd overall.
Knockhill Stages (19th February): the opening round of the STRC took place at the Fife circuit, with an entry of almost 50. Club member Dommy Buckley was making a return to the driving seat after 15+ years, and together with co-driver Dougie Redpath, they came away with the overall win in a Citroen C3 Rally2. Harry Marchbank was also on the podium, guiding Dale Robertson to 3rd Overall in a Ford Fiesta Rally2. Roscoe West alongside Cameron Williamson in a Subaru Impreza finished 25th.
East Riding Stages (26th February): the opening round of the Protyre National Tarmac Championship and North of England Tarmac Championship was held on closed roads near Beverley (Hull),. It was only the second time the event has run and it had a capacity entry of 150, including 4 club members. Despite a minor altercation on one stage, Joe McKeand and Charlotte McDowall brought the Subau home in 15th place. The Father and Son pairing of Lee and Cole Hastings from Collin finished 26th (or 25th equal to be more precise!) in the Subaru Impreza. Peter Stewart & Harry Marchbank wheeled out a new Peugeot 208 Rally4, and finished 70th, just three places ahead of Dad Richard Stewart with Carin Tait-Logan alongside in the sister car. Jamie Edwards, co-driving for Kevin Proctor in the Ford Fiesta S2000T hit one of the many bake chicanes on only the second stage of the day and broke a driveshaft, but they managed to fix it and enjoy the stages for the rest of the day (finishing 115th of the 116 finishers).
