Event Report

Our seventh and final Grass Autotest of the year took place on Sunday 25th September, with 17 entries, returning to Southerness with the kind permission of the McKeand family.

Class 1 (under 1400cc FWD): It was a MGZR 1-2 with Rab Henderson coming in ahead of Mark McCulloch, with the Nissan Sunny of Grant Carson in 3rd. Niall Cowan Jnr took 4th in class ahead of Aaran Ferguson, with Keith Riddick and Elaine Murdoch rounding off the Top 10 overall and taking 6th and 7th in class. Jack Gaffney was next, followed by Mairi Riddick and Ashley Thomson (who was getting on just fine solo!)

Class 2 (over 1400cc FWD): A Nissan Micra 1-2-3, Thomas McCarney took the class win, ahead of Richard Dickson in second. Karen McCarney dropped down the order with an uncharacteristic WD on Test 5 but still finished 3rd.  The shared Ford KA of Hal Renwick and Craig Smith was separated this week by the Ford Puma of Alan McMorran.

Class 5 (Specials): Billy Biagi was the only starter in this class, surviving a mid-day scare with a fuel issue on his Buggy. Thanks to Thomas for his sportsmanship in assiting to fix this.

Well done to our winner, Thomas McCarney, finishing 11.1seconds ahead of Richard Dickson, with Rab Henderson another 3.1seconds back. First Lady was Karen McCarney, with Niall Cowan Jnr taking Top Novice.

Thanks go to the McKeand family again for the venue, to the Riddicks for Organising and for timing and results, and all who helped on the day. Commendable mention to Chloe McCulloch for excellent behaviour all day.

The next event will be a Tarmac Autotest on Sunday 16th October  – more information to come soon.
