Dalbeattie Quarry Autotest 9th Aptil 2017 Overall

Dalbeattie Quarry Autotest 9th April 2017 Class

thank you to Iain Wilson and JAS P Wilson for the use of this, and with great weather around it was set to be an eventful day.

With a mixed surface and plenty of dust to play with it made for some challenging conditions.

Early leader Richard Dickson fell by the way side with a wrong direction in test two and left the door open for Rab Henderson, and the father and son duo of Thomas and TJ McCarney to fight it out for top three places overall. At the end of the day Rab Henderson came out on top by 5 seconds for his first ever class 1 and overall win in his new MG ZR.

TJ McCarney pipped his father Thomas by 4.5 second to claim family honours and bragging rights going into to the Clubs Grass Autotest season.

Class 4 gained a few extra competitors when David Kirkpartick brought out his BWM Compact and he finished a very creditable 3rd in class behind Drew McLean in his MX5 in 2nd. 1st in class was taken by Land owner Iain Wilson also driving David Kirpatrick’s BWM and watching this larger than normal car being thrown about through the cones was very enjoyable to watch for all in attendance. But the grin on Iain’s face showed that he was still having more fun than anyone else.

Lewis Winder Took the spoils in the junior boys category, using the event to gain more experience for his time in the Ecosse Junior Rally Championship. With a fine 7th overall and 6th in class, he is definitely one to watch out for in the future.

In the Senior class, Harry Adams took the spoils in his Fiat Punto and Nancy Dickson was first lady on the leader board.

Thank you to all competitors, time keeper’s, marshal’s and spectators for coming out for the day.
